Acne

WHAT IS ACNE?
Acne is the term used for blocked pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that can appear on the skin, typically on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms.

WHO GETS ACNE?
Seventeen-million Americans currently have acne, making it the most common skin disorder in the country. While acne is most often seen in teenagers, adults of any age can also be affected.

ACNE TREATMENT
Acne can cause physical disfigurement (scarring) and emotional distress. Treatment varies, depending on the type of acne, severity, skin type, and the patient's age and lifestyle. Treatment can usually minimize the effects and improve the appearance, and confidence, of the patient.
