Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is used to treat vericose veins and spider veins. This is a well-proven procedure that has been used for the treatment of vericose and spider veins since the 1930s.

A fine needle is used to inject a solution directly into the vein itself, causing the vein to scar and collapse. This forces the blood to reroute through healthier veins. The treated vein then is reabsorbed into the surrounding tissue and eventually fades in appearance.

This treatment will improve the appearance of the skin over a matter of weeks or months, and does not necessarily give immediate results. Occasionally, additional treatments may be required to reach the desired result. Additional injections may be needed over time as this treatment doesn't prevent new veins from developing into vericose or spider veins. Certain health conditions, such as pregnancy, blood clots, or other factors, may make you ineligible for this treatment.

At Lake Loveland Dermatology, we have trained physicians administering this procedure. This assures that you receive the best results in a safe and effective manner.
